When the good news is received that the family is going to expand with a new member, preparations and searches for the items and products that the little one on the way will need begin. The first search that most moms and dads make is for a baby stroller. Also, and happily for all that it implies, you spend more and more time searching for information and car seat models. Have you thought that we spend much more time at home than on the street and that therefore we also have to dedicate time to all those baby items that you will use at home to get them right?
Today we are going to share with you an overview of the items that a baby needs at home, with some tips on the features you should look for in them so that your baby is comfortable and enjoyable, and you are the happiest mom or dad in the world.
wooden cribs

If you choose a wooden crib for bedtime, we recommend that you pay close attention to everything related to safety: bars, paints used, rounded edges and wheels with brakes. Also related to safety is the height of the bed base: keep in mind that you can put it at different heights depending on the age of the child. It is interesting that it has a sliding side to make it more comfortable for you to put the baby in and out of it, but remember: sliding does not mean removable. You must always assemble the wooden crib following the manufacturer's instructions, with all 4 sides, and not resort to external systems such as those called co-sleeping kits, which do not comply with current regulations nor should they be used. It is preferable that the crib be of standard size (60x120 cm), as this will make it easier for you to choose all the textile accessories (protectors, sheets, duvets, etc.), as well as the mattress which, as we will always insist, is almost more important than the crib itself, since it is where it rests. The mattress must be anti-suffocation, anti-mite, made of hypoallergenic materials and with a structure that prevents plagiocephaly (flat head).
Minicribs

In mini cribs you should take into account the same advice that we just gave you in relation to wooden cribs, but consider at this point the possibility that this one is for co-sleeping. The practice of co-sleeping is very interesting from the point of view of emotional ties with your little one and it is a practice that we will always recommend with bassinets or baby cribs. The textiles of the mini cribs, if they are not the classic wooden ones, must be washable and breathable for your baby's optimal rest.
High chairs

Feeding time is always one of the most important moments in your baby's daily life. It can be a fun moment, but also very educational because your little one will begin to acquire healthy habits if you instill them in them from the beginning, and appropriate behavior. You can opt for portable highchairs but the most practical thing for you and your baby will be an evolutionary highchair. Make sure it has a textile that is padded, removable and easily washable. It would also be ideal for both the backrest and the footrest to have different positions to adapt them to the moment and the size and age of the child. That the height is adjustable will also give you a lot of play as it will allow you to use it in different environments and for different purposes, such as getting a light sleep when finishing your meal. If your high chair has two wheels, even better, because moving around the house, from the kitchen to the living room or vice versa will be easier. And if you don't live in a large house, it is important that the high chair is foldable and takes up little space.
Hammocks

Your baby will also spend many moments at home in the hammocks. The baby hammock is undoubtedly essential in any home with small children as it offers many advantages to them, but also to modern moms and dads like you, as they are easy to transport and move around the house, making it easier for you to do different kinds of tasks and the very current teleworking. It is highly recommended that you look for evolutionary and durable hammocks that have different reclining positions and that are comfortable for resting, with a rocker mode, but also that you can put in a fixed position if the child weighs more than 9 kg. We also recommend some features that will help your baby rest, such as the structure having a slight vibration movement and having relaxing melodies. Many hammocks on the market also have play arches or carousels that serve as distraction and fun for the little one while stimulating their abilities and movements.
Travel cots (or playpens)).
Travel cribs are very useful and practical products in any home because you can give them different uses. If you want your travel crib to last a long time, look for it with double height, as it will allow your little one to sleep in it up to 9 kg and then as a playpen. Look at the exterior structures, that they are plastic and as padded as possible, that they fold very compactly and easily and that they have a cat flap or door so that the child can enter and exit independently when he or she is older. You may also find it very useful if it includes a play arch and even a changing table. It is preferable that at least two of the sides of the travel cot are made of mesh to facilitate ventilation, perspiration and increase visibility. Forgive us if we are repetitive, but here we will also insist that the practice of co-sleeping, if you are going to use it as a crib, is neither appropriate nor recommended.
