Traveling with children

When it's time to travel, there are many moms and dads who don't feel like traveling with a small baby, due to the amount of things you have to carry: it's a general problem of space in the car. Where am I going for four days with so much stuff, if I can't even fit my suitcases in the car?

We want to tell you that of almost all the items that exist for your baby, there are foldable versions, which take up very small spaces: strollers, mini-cribs, high chairs, hammocks, bathtubs... Since the problem is sometimes budget, it is not acceptable for you to buy all the things in duplicate, that is, a bathtub for home and another for when you travel, a large high chair for the kitchen at home and a small one in case you go to the beach for a few days. The ideal is to do the planning before you start preparing everything your baby will need.

We are going to try to help you in this planning, making a compilation of the baby items that you can find in a reduced, more compact or foldable version:

                - The baby carriage or trio. As we have told you on other occasions, the right choice will make your life easier in all aspects. Think about the child and see that its characteristics are appropriate for its well-being and comfort (breathability, quality of the carrycot mattress, shape of the seat, etc.), but if you are one of the people who likes to move, travel, see the world or simply need to travel frequently in your car, folding the stroller is essential. A light, aluminum chassis, with a comfortable, simple and, above all, compact folding is undoubtedly the best choice. And if you can also pick up and fold the carrycot, and you can fold the chair or hammock without removing it from the chassis, you will have saved more space than you think.

                - The light chair or stroller. Closely related to the above, choosing the appropriate chair should be related to your baby's needs, but folding it comfortably will be wonderful when it comes time to go on vacation. You know that there are many types of folding: before buying, test what space it takes up in the trunk. There are book-shaped folds and stick-shaped folds, and sometimes due to the dimensions or shape of your trunk, you better optimize the space with one type or another. If the trunk is very deep, perhaps your choice is better with a longitudinal folding like that of the so-called cane or umbrella seats. Within the compact folding, there is a type of chair that we call flight chairs, which are accepted by most airlines to even be placed in the cabin, and which have a telescopic handle that allows you to carry it as trolley.

                - The bathtub. You can collect folding bathtubs in the shape of an accordion. When folded, they are no thicker than 7-8 cm, so  that you can store them in any space. They are comfortable, and easy to clean, and you can also give them an additional use: in addition to using them during bath time, they serve as a small pool for the lawn or terrace. Two items in one, versatile, light and economical

                - The mini crib. Without a doubt, the best option for traveling with your mini crib is a folding co-sleeping mini crib. It has all the features of standard co-sleeping mini cribs with the enormous advantage that you can pick it up without having to dismantle parts or unscrew anything. They are collected in 20 seconds by folding its legs and disassembling its structure with two simple clicks. And even better if you bring your own carrying bag.

                - Rectangular travel cot or playpen cot. It is, without fear of being wrong, the king of comfort and functionality when traveling. Buy it with double height to use as a crib in the first months of life so that it is more comfortable for you to put the child in or out of it. And without this entailing an increase in size when picking it up and loading it in the car, it is ideal if it has its play arch to entertain your baby on your vacation and the built-in and foldable changing table: your baby sleeps, plays and changes, all in one. And its folding is very easy and compact. Also think that when you are not using it on your trips, it is the best option for the grandparents' or relatives' house, who will always have the baby's crib collected but ready to set up in a minute.

                - The place to eat. Depending on your baby's age, we offer you alternatives for when it's time for your baby to eat. There are highchairs that are very foldable by closing in the shape of scissors, which is still a large item that may not solve the lack of space in the car when you are traveling. IF the baby is small, a good alternative for mealtime is a hammock with a reclining seat, in which you can put the child incorporated. For the topic at hand, that is, minimizing space, the ideal is for it to be foldable and easy to collect. With this you bring a hammock for your trip that serves as entertainment, to rest and to eat. If the child is older, a super practical alternative that you can also carry hanging like a bag when you eat on the street is a travel high chair: manageable, adaptable to any chair and washable.

Have you seen that there are ways to travel without needing a rental van? With these small recommendations your child can do the same as at home: bathe, eat, sleep and walk. Does that seem little to you?
