KEYS TO CHOOSING A WELL BABY PRAM. (PART 4 - CARTOONS)

Today we return to our series “Experts in Baby Strollers” and we focus on another of the key pieces of this product: THE CARTOON.

This will be the first piece your baby uses since it is used from birth to 9 kg.

It should be his usual space when you go out for a walk, from the carrycot he will be introduced to many family and friends. And you will discover that the baby spends a lot of time here, from a short walk to do the shopping, a nap at the grandparents' house, or one of those endless days when we go out in the morning and don't return home until the evening.

This piece will be very useful during the first months of life as it will allow you to go outside and ensure that the baby continues to be comfortable, calm and developing correctly. For them, having all this and being outdoors, moving, on a walk with the peace of mind of seeing mom or dad... will make the carrycot become their favorite place.

For all this, we must know the most important characteristics that you should take into account when choosing this piece, the correct choice will give you the peace of mind that your baby is in the best space.

THE CASE.

I will start by making a first differentiation by type:

1. Soft. The soft carrycot is never installed automatically or with the a-click system and in any stroller. It looks more like a sack than a carrycot. And some brands offer it as an alternative for their strollers when they do not include carrycots as in the case of travel systems. I would only use this option if I couldn't afford the others.

2. Hard. The hard carrycot has a completely closed and plastic bottom part. I don't like this concept at all since it doesn't allow perspiration. I don't think it is very suitable for our country with the climate we have because of the temperature at which it can get. Anyway, I wouldn't choose it either.

rigid carrycot

3. Rigid.  They are constructed entirely of textile and only a small structure maintains its shape. They are breathable and washable. Without a doubt for me, the best option.

Once we know the types we will see what you should look for.

Rigid carrycot, but at the same time flexible and foldable. They are the best option. All Asalvo models are like this. They allow you to fold it quickly, easily and take up very little space.

Spacious and comfortable. The size is very important, some carrycots are very small and babies can hardly move, think that you will use them until they are 6-8 months old.

Breathable Textiles. Look for a good DEN on the outside and look for the entire interior to be lined, even better if it is in cotton to prevent allergies, dermatitis...

Washable Textiles. Definitely! Babies drool and regurgitate. I'm sure you want to always keep your baby clean and impeccable. Make sure the products you buy for your baby help you achieve this.

folding hood, to allow it to get sun when you see fit or protect it from the cold if necessary.

Mattress.  Look for it that is breathable, made of soft foam with memory function. This will offer you a healthy and comfortable environment.

Foot cover Better if it includes a windbreaker to protect from wind, sun, rain...

A-click system. Look for it to incorporate the adapters and for the placement system on the chassis to be simply by pressing a button

Finally and before finishing this point, I cannot help but say that the carrycot is not the best child restraint system for the car. In the event of an accident, a baby has many more risks traveling in an approved carrycot than in a group 0. Many mothers ask me if he is not too small when leaving the hospital to be put sitting in a chair and that they see him uncomfortable in group 0, I have to say NOOOOO, the child must above all be SAFE and the carrycot does not offer the same security.
