Baby hammocks are a very practical accessory for the first months of a newborn's life. However, there are still numerous questions regarding the estimated age at which its use is beneficial, or what is the ideal model for our baby. And you, do you know the answers to these questions? If not, here we leave you the solution.
A baby hammock is a padded chair that generally causes a swinging movement created by the baby himself, when he is not yet crawling or walking, to develop strength in the back, limbs and abdomen. In addition, it has a fastening system using a harness or belt so that the baby cannot fall out of the hammock by accident. The baby hammock is very practical because, unlike the crib, the little one can see what is happening around him when he uses it and feels more integrated into the family activity. They also awaken in them curiosity and the need to explore their surroundings.
You may have heard that you can only put the baby in the bouncer when he is a couple of months old and already holding his head on his own. This is not entirely accurate, because most hammocks can be used from zero months. Keep in mind that a hammock is not a chair or a high chair: in the hammock, the baby is inclined, not sitting, so his head is supported by the backrest and his neck does not have to be constantly strained. Another thing is that newborns may not be very comfortable in hammocks at first, because they do not yet control their body weight and tend to squirm or lean to one side.

Therefore, when to put the baby in the bouncer? There is no closed answer, that is, each baby grows at different rates. Thus, our recommendation would be to try it to see how it feels, and if you see that it is not comfortable, then it would be better to wait longer. It's also a good idea not to rock the baby at first. Of course, also keep in mind that a hammock limits the baby's movements, so they should not spend a lot of time in it. The ideal is to use the hammock alternating with other elements that help the baby's development such as the crib, the activity mat, the playpen, the baby gym and, of course... mom and dad's arms!
